Caitlin E. Rae was born and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics from Northwestern University. Ms. Rae obtained a joint law degree and Master of Social Work from California Western School of Law and San Diego State University. Ms. Rae was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002. She is also admitted to the Federal District Court for the Southern District of California and the United States Supreme Court.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Rae worked for the County of San Diego at the Office of County Counsel for over 20 years. In that role, Ms. Rae practiced juvenile dependency law, civil litigation, and municipal law. She represented employees and the County in a wide range of tort litigation including civil rights, premises liability, excessive force, personal injury, sexual harassment, and general litigation cases. Ms. Rae has tried cases in State and Federal Court all resulting in defense verdicts. She has numerous published decisions and has argued before the Court of Appeal, California Supreme Court, and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Rae joined the firm in 2026. She currently represents clients in a wide range of civil litigation ranging from personal injury to employment litigation. The majority of her practice involves defending public entities including school districts and community colleges. Ms. Rae is a member of the City of Del Mar’s Measure Q Advisory Committee and sits on the Del Mar’s Design Review Board.
